The Natural Pecking Order

So apparently nature takes its course in all places, and it starts early. I picked up Caitlin from preschool today, and she told me that she's not allowed to play "mommy." I asked her why, and she said that Christine gets to be the "mommy," and she has to be the "baby." So naturally I investigated more... Matthew, one of the big boys at preschool, always is designated "daddy" and of course the natural pecking order starts there. As the most eligible bachelor in preschool, the girls fall in line as nature so intends. Christine, a kindergartener, is the oldest, so unless she doesn't want to play, she gets to be the mommy. Iyanna, next oldest gets the second choice, and Caitlin, youngest of the non-infants plays the baby.

Natural? Perhaps. It sort of sounds like what the Nature Channel always talks about, but I didn't realize the social order and social standing occurred so early in life!

Well, at least she has the chance to move up in the social order... Poor Matthew is stuck being the daddy no matter what in this playground scenario.

A Day With Grandparents Yeung and Aunties

My parents came with my youngest sister, Sai Yee Lina, from the City. Tai Yee Gina joined us too from Cupertino. We had great time at Joy Luck Place for dim sum. Then my parents and siblings came over our place to get their Caitlin fix for the day. Of course, Gung Gung had a great time and got some Kodak moments with his granddaughter. My two younger siblings showered Cay Cay with lots of attention while I got to catch up with them.

Summer Trip to Southern California

We had a good time staying in Oceanside during our summer trip to Southern California. We got a chance to spend lots of time with GuJie Rica and Uncle Pete in San Diego. We took lots of pictures during our trip. Caitlin enjoyed herself a lot with lots of MaMa fix!

I thought this only happens in movies

Caitlin: Eeew, there's a yucky bamboo!
Me: Where?
C: In the garbage.
M: Oh, I see.
C: Why is it in there?
M: Because, it did't get enough water, got yellow, and died.
C: Why?
M: Because mommy didn't water it enough.
C: Why?
M: Because she forgot.
C: Why?
M: Because she does that sometimes.
C: Why?
M: Umm...because.
C: Why?
M: There is no because. It just happens.
C: Why?
M: Caitlin, sometimes there isn't a why.
C: Why?
M: *sigh*
C: *mischevious grin*

Kiran's 3rd Birthday Party

We were in So-Cal beginning of July for a week. Our first Saturday there, we were invited to Clarice and Ian's housewarming party/ Kiran's 3rd birthday party. All the adults had a good time catching up while the little ones were having a good time playing on the playground. Cay Cay's older cousins came later in the evening.

In The City With The Eyres

Hee.... I finally uploaded pictures from May when we hung out with Clarice and Ian in San Francisco, when they were visiting. Caitlin had a great time meeting and connecting with Eugene's cousin's family. We hung out at Fisherman Wharf, Pier 39 and in Nob Hill, at the Cable Car Museum. For me, it was nice seeing the city I grew up in, as a tourist........not a local. While Caitlin had an awesome time hanging out with Jackson and Kiran the most! The weather was perfect.

Oahu

Our June vacation to Oahu was Caitlin first time to Hawaii. She had a good time. Even though it was a short trip. It always nice to be on the island. We had lots of yummy local food in Waikiki. Caitlin loved the beach a lot! Daddy and I can't wait for our next trip to the Big Island by ourselves. =)
